Natural gas station in Milan;
in the homeland of natural gas stations
The Milan municipal cleaning company Amsa s.r.l. made a contribution to reducing emissions in large metropolitan areas, by converting some garbage trucks to natural gas. "Via Zama 31" was chosen from six locations within the city limits, to launch the project.

Here, Italy's first natural gas station was built, with a dynamic basin from SCHANDL. A matching tank filling system was set up for 20 garbage trucks, in cooperation with the Milan partners.
All national regulations were complied with. Due to the schedules of the trucks, they had to be filled within a very short time, one after another. In order to dispense an absolutely identical amount of fuel to all trucks, the dynagas concept was chosen. Filling speed, filling amount and the gas temperature in the trucks' tanks are identical – from the first truck to the last. The station was mounted on the roof of a locally constructed building. After the installation, the roof was put in place and the corresponding interior installation was finished.
Ever since this tank filling station was commissioned early in 2004, it has operated flawlessly. Due to the ease with which the garbage trucks are filled, the Milan municipal cleaning company ordered another 50 CNG trucks, replacing diesel trucks. The natural gas station was modified, and some slow-fill pumps were added. During 2005, another Amsa s.r.l. location will be converted to natural gas trucks. Here as well, the proven SCHANDL dynagas concept will be used.
